Access to Work ADHD Coaching Support
The UK government scheme may help eligible workers pay for practical workplace support, including ADHD coaching. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) decides each award.
What is Access to Work?
Access to Work is a UK government grant scheme that provides funding for practical support to help people with disabilities and health conditions (including ADHD) to:
- Start work
- Stay in work
- Become self-employed
The annual cap is £69,260 for 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. This is a maximum across an individual grant, not a guaranteed coaching budget; the amount and support awarded depend on your needs and circumstances.
- ✓ Annual grant cap of £69,260 for 2026/27
- ✓ Funding can include practical workplace support such as coaching
- ✓ No formal diagnosis required
- ✓ Available in England, Scotland & Wales
Information checked against GOV.UK on 11 August 2026. Eligibility and awards can change.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a formal ADHD diagnosis to apply?
No. GOV.UK says you do not need to be diagnosed with a condition to apply. You will need to explain how your condition affects your work.
How much will my employer have to pay?
It depends on the support awarded and your employer’s circumstances. DWP’s written decision will explain the grant amount and whether an employer contribution applies.
Can Access to Work fund group coaching?
Access to Work awards support based on individual workplace needs. Ask DWP whether a proposed group format is eligible before booking it.
How long does the application take?
Processing times vary and are not guaranteed. Apply as early as you can and use the contact details on GOV.UK if you need a current update.
Can self-employed people apply?
Yes, if you meet the scheme’s criteria. As of August 2026, GOV.UK says self-employed applicants must have annual turnover of at least £6,500.
What if my application is rejected?
Contact Access to Work if you disagree with the decision and ask what review or complaint route applies to your case. Follow the current process stated by DWP.
Is there a limit to how many coaching sessions I can have?
The number of sessions depends on the support DWP approves. The £69,260 annual cap for 2026/27 applies to the whole grant and is not a dedicated coaching allowance.
